Salt Lake City Municipal Elections Move to Vote-By-Mail

_MG_1216

Salt Lake City's 2015 municipal elections will be conducted using a slightly different process than voters have previously experienced. This year’s election will be run primarily using vote by mail ballots, with all registered voters receiving a ballot in the mail 28 days before the upcoming election. This means you will receive a ballot for the August 11th primary around the 15th of July. This new process will give voters a chance to research candidates, cast their vote, and either mail in a ballot when ready, or deliver it to a designated ballot collection location. It should also increase voter turnout, which will strengthen our local democracy. It is important to remember that in order for a mailed-in ballot to count, it must be postmarked no later than August 10th. Ballots mailed on election day, August 11th, will not be counted.

By now you should have received at least one piece of mail from the county clerk explaining this new voting process. If not, your address may not be current, and will need to be updated. Visit the Lieutenant Governor's  website to update your address, name, or to register to vote up to seven days before the election. You can also check this website to find your nearest polling location, as well as information for early voting.

If you have any questions about voting, please e-mail the campaign at campaign@lukeformayor.com.
